About the Role

Coinbase is looking for a Staff Data Scientist to join their Coinbase Wallet team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for driving the growth of the wallet by developing growth models, implementing experimentation frameworks, and analyzing blockchain data for new product opportunities. This role will collaborate with multiple teams to improve product performance and contribute to Coinbase's mission to provide economic freedom through crypto.

• Test & Analyze: Devise testing plans to better understand key product metrics and inform strategy.
• Strategic Partnership: Work with functional teams to execute analyses and provide actionable recommendations.
• Modeling & Analytics: Build machine learning models and analytics solutions to enhance product performance.
• Business Performance: Measure and refine core business metrics to track and monitor performance.
• Storytelling with Data: Synthesize insights into clear, compelling stories to share across Coinbase and with senior leadership.
• Data Pipelines: Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and models with high-quality standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• Education: BA/BS or equivalent practical experience. Alternatively, a PhD in related fields with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in data science, or 5+ years with a PhD.
• Statistical & Analytical Skills: Strong understanding of statistical concepts and their application.
• Experimentation: Knowledge of experimentation techniques (e.g., incrementality, cannibalization).
• SQL Proficiency: Experience with SQL for data analysis.
• Programming: Proficiency in Python or another programming language.
• Project Management: Ability to independently oversee large and complex analytics projects.
• Crypto Experience: Previous experience in the crypto industry is a plus.
• Domain Knowledge: Experience in product, marketing, growth, or business analytics areas.
