Job summary

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Staff Data Scientist (Pricing/Reinforcement Learning) to join the Pricing organization in Bentonville, AR or Sunnyvale, CA. The role focuses on building prescriptive ML models, elasticity analyses, and end-to-end price recommendations that drive EDLP goals.

We look for 8+ years in data science with pricing or causal modeling, strong Python and deep learning framework skills, and experience delivering production-grade optimization models with business impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Data Science / Applied ML with pricing/elasticity or causal modeling.
• Production-grade optimization models with measurable financial outcomes.
• Strong pricing dynamics knowledge: seasonality, promotions, regimes.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy prescriptive ML models for pricing and markdown needs.
• Perform elasticity analysis across large datasets to inform decisions.
• Own the end-to-end Price Recommendation lifecycle, incl. experimentation.
• Develop pricing/optimization solutions using causal inference, RL, and DL.
• Build explainable pricing systems with stakeholder-facing narratives.
• Apply graph-based modeling to capture cannibalization and halo effects.
• Establish evaluation/monitoring: backtesting, drift detection, calibration.
• Collaborate with product, business, and engineering; mentor ML engineers.
