Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build data-intensive, AI-enabled software for Product Development engineering teams. You will craft SQL-heavy data transformations, data pipelines in Databricks, and backend services in Java and Python, aligned with GM standards.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers, apply DevOps practices, and mentor teammates while shaping patterns for data and AI integrations across VEQ and PD Business Systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years delivering enterprise software using Java/JEE and Python.
• 3+ years with complex SQL queries and performance tuning.
• Experience building data pipelines on Databricks or Spark.
• 3+ years with Kubernetes/Docker and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM and DevOps practices (GitHub Actions).
• Willingness to learn AI concepts and APIs for AI/ML solutions.
• Strong problem solving and clear communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data-driven and AI-enabled applications.
• Write high-quality SQL for transformations across enterprise platforms.
• Build data pipelines in Databricks and related tools for batch and near realtime processing.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Java and/or Python.
• Work with Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, and cloud platforms to deliver scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with data science teams to productionize AI/LLM solutions.
• Lead design reviews, ensure code quality, and support CI/CD processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues across data, app, and infra layers.
