Job summary

Anthropic Limited in San Francisco is hiring a Staff+ Software Engineer for the Safeguards Data team. You will build safety-focused data pipelines, stores, and governance controls deployed across AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring correct data handling and portability across environments.

You will own data integrity, retention, access controls, and collaboration with analysts and researchers, with a focus on safety, transparency, and policy-aligned tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to software or data systems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with production-grade data pipelines.
• Experience building or operating data pipelines or data stores in production.
• Ability to communicate complex tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the data platform powering Safeguards, including data ingestion, processing, warehouses, and data schemas.
• Maintain day-to-day operations with a high bar for safety, reliability, and user impact.
• Own data governance, retention, access controls, and privacy-preserving handling of sensitive data.
• Design portable, cloud-agnostic systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Collaborate with analysts, investigators, and researchers relying on the data tooling.
