Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Data Engineer on the Safeguards team to design and maintain scalable data pipelines, warehousing, and analytical tooling that power safety and trust efforts at scale. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and policy teams to ensure the Safeguards organization has the data it needs to detect abuse patterns and measure safety interventions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and Python with hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with cloud data platforms like BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake or similar.
• Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt, Airflow, Spark or similar orchestration/transform frameworks.
• Experience building dashboards and data visualizations with Looker, Tableau, or Metabase.
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support safety monitoring, abuse detection, and enforcement workflows.
• Develop and optimize data models and warehousing solutions for large-scale usage and safety data.
• Build dashboards and reporting infrastructure to show model behavior, misuse patterns, and enforcement outcomes.
• Integrate data from multiple sources into a unified analytical layer with engineers.
• Implement data quality frameworks, monitoring, and alerting for reliability of safety data.
• Collaborate with research teams to surface insights that inform model improvements and safety interventions.
• Develop self-service data tooling for stakeholders to explore safety data and generate reports.
• Contribute to data governance practices, including access controls and privacy-compliant handling.
