Job summary

Palmetto seeks a senior data engineer to own the design of Palmetto's data platform powering products, partners, and AI agents. You will transform data across the customer journey into a single governed view, ensuring consistency across dashboards, notebooks, and agents. Build secure, auditable access paths and work with core teams on direction and standards.

You will set technical direction, write foundational code, and mentor others, with AI agents as first-class consumers of the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering with leadership exposure.
• Strong SQL and Python expertise.
• Expertise in modern data warehousing concepts.
• Proficient with dbt or similar transformation tools.
• Experience with ETL orchestration pipelines.
• IaC and container orchestration on major cloud platforms.
• Proven ability to design docs and cross-team alignment.
• Knowledge of API design and PII handling.

Responsibilities

• Model the business and own data products from bronze to gold for multiple teams.
• Make data agent-ready with governed definitions and source-traceability.
• Implement governance, access control, and SOC 2 readiness measures.
• Build and run ingestion/ orchestration pipelines with CI/CD and observability.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, product and engineering to evolve data needs.
• Design and operate secure, low-latency data access paths for products and partners.
• Mentor teammates, review code, and provide templates and CI checks.
