Cisco Systems, Inc is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Data & Scalability Platform. You will shape the data plane architecture, storage, streaming, and compute, and guide tooling and SLOs.

This hybrid role requires on-site Tuesdays and Thursdays in San Francisco and San Jose (CA). You will mentor engineers and collaborate with product teams to drive scalable, cost-effective solutions for AI resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience, or advanced degree.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed data platforms.
• Backend engineering in Go/Java/Rust/C++/Python with cloud and Kubernetes.

Responsabilités

• Define multi-quarter technical roadmap for the data platform.
• Lead architecture, storage, streaming, compute and tooling.
• Set standards for schema design, migrations, retention, and SLOs.
• Drive capacity, performance and cost optimization across data plane.
• Mentor engineers and influence product teams.
