Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join the Auth0 Data Engineering Team in Chicago, IL on a hybrid schedule. This role leads the architectural evolution of the core data platform, starting with FEDRamp compliance, and drives scalable, secure designs across multiple teams.

The position offers a salary range of USD 174,000 to 238,700 per year, with benefits emphasizing well-being, social impact, and talent development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with 5+ years in data engineering or data platform roles.
• Experience delivering large-scale, cross-functional technical projects.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with emphasis on code quality and system design.
• Experience architecting data infrastructure in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow and orchestration tooling is a plus.
• Excellent communication to drive decisions on complex technical topics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of the core data platform and architectural roadmap.
• Set technical direction for large-scale platform improvements and deliver incrementally.
• Collaborate with data, platform, and security teams to ensure secure architecture.
• Create design documents, threat models, and specs for complex initiatives.
• Mentor Data Engineering team and elevate performance through code reviews and guidance.
• Build foundational components and model hands-on coding as a working example.
