Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to steer the architectural evolution of its data platform, starting with FEDRamp compliance. This role is based in Washington, DC with a hybrid work arrangement and offers a salary range of USD 174,000 - 238,700 per year.

The position requires eight or more years of experience. Spearhead the design and ongoing evolution of the data platform architecture, defining the strategic roadmap for its future state.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of software development experience, with at least five years in data engineering or data platform.
• Experience delivering large-scale cross-functional technical projects.
• Cloud experience with AWS and modern data stack technologies.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead design and evolution of data platform architecture and define the strategic roadmap.
• Shape technical strategy for large-scale platform enhancements and secure architectures.
• Collaborate with data, platform, and security teams to craft cohesive architectural framework.
• Create design docs, threat models, and specifications to clarify complex initiatives.
• Mentor Data Engineering team and promote best practices through code reviews.
• Implement core components, validate designs with hands-on coding, and model practices.
