Job summary

Faire is seeking a Staff Engineer for its Data Platform to own the data plumbing from production databases to analytical stores. You will design the next-gen data movement, personally implement core parts, and guide the company through data-driven changes.

You will mentor engineers, set data reliability standards, and collaborate with data scientists and analysts who depend on this platform.

Qualifications

• Built and run data infrastructure at meaningful scale and set direction for it.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for data movement from production systems into analytical stores.
• Build the CDC and streaming ingestion layer: CockroachDB changefeeds and MySQL binlogs into Kafka, then into Iceberg tables on S3.
• Implement data contracts and quality checks throughout the platform.
• Own SLAs on datasets and wire quality checks into the platform with tools like Anomalo and Monte Carlo.
• Run Airflow and Fivetran effectively and decide what to buy vs build.
• Own platform reliability: SLOs, on-call, incident reviews, and follow-up.
