Job summary

Discord is seeking a seasoned technical leader to join our Data team as a Staff Data Engineer, driving vision for our analytics data infrastructure and semantic layer that powers trusted datasets.

You will collaborate with Data Governance, Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering, own governance programs end to end, and mentor engineers to deliver scalable data systems. The role reports to the Director of Data Engineering.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data and software engineering with consumer datasets.
• Expert SQL and strong Python with version control basics.
• Experience with data quality audits and anomaly detection.
• Ability to translate business questions into metric definitions.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and architecture for analytics data infrastructure.
• Own data governance programs end to end with stakeholders.
• Build data abstractions and analytical frameworks using SQL and Python.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor engineers.
