Discord is seeking a seasoned Staff Data Engineer to lead analytics data infrastructure, governance, and data quality at scale. You will shape the architecture, model standards, and metric governance while partnering with Data Governance, Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data and software engineering.
• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining data infrastructure.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python skills, with version control/CI/CD fundamentals.
• Proven experience implementing data quality audits, monitoring, and automated remediation for massive datasets.
• Strong business acumen and communication skills translating questions into metrics for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy and architectural direction for analytics data infrastructure and data models.
• Own data governance programs end to end in partnership with stakeholders.
• Design and build data abstractions and analytical frameworks using SQL and Python with modern data stack tools.
• Develop data quality frameworks, monitoring, anomaly detection, and alerting at scale with governance and lineage tracking.
• Drive adoption of data modeling patterns, naming conventions and metric governance across the data organization.
