Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead data pipelines and analytics across Payments, Risk, and Product. You will drive scalable data architectures and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable data platforms.

The role requires 10+ years in data systems, strong SQL, backend languages, and experience with Iceberg, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Airflow, and AWS. You will mentor engineers and shape data strategy at Stripe.

Qualifications

• Minimum: 10+ years building and operating data systems, pipelines, warehouses, and leading teams.
• Strong engineering background with data pipeline development in a distributed framework.
• Excellent data quality troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Backend experience with Scala/Java/Go and strong SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical outcomes for a team of engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Partner with recruiting to attract top data talent.
• Deliver scalable data pipelines with reliability and efficiency.
• Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs of data pipelines and applications.
• Collaborate with product teams to create canonical datasets and trustworthy data.
