Job summary

Workiva Inc. is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to own Postgres schema design and the end-to-end GRC data lifecycle, from transactional models to BI and history marts. You will lead schema standards, data contracts, and reliable extraction with an OLAP partner.

You will mentor engineers, shape data architectures, and drive secure, scalable data pipelines within regulated release governance in a remote-friendly US-based setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering or backend engineering with hands-on ownership of production Postgres systems.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and evolve Postgres schemas for GRC product services, optimizing normalization, performance and ergonomics.
• Own change-data-capture and extraction with clear data contracts to ensure stable downstream models.
• Define relational modeling patterns and optimize SQL for transactional workloads at scale.
• Implement data integrity, replication/failover, monitoring, and secure release pipelines with RBAC and encryption standards.
• Mentor engineers, establish standards, and collaborate with platform data teams to govern GRC data models.
