Job summary

Discord is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead analytics data infrastructure and governance. You will drive architectural direction, build curated datasets, and ensure rigor, auditability, and self‑serve access for internal and external reporting.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Data Science, Finance, Product, and Engineering, and help set data modeling standards across the organization. This role is based in SF with a strong emphasis on reliability and scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data and software engineering.
• 7+ years designing data infrastructure used at scale.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python skills.
• Experience with data quality audits and monitoring.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy and architecture for analytics data infrastructure.
• Own data governance programs end to end with stakeholders.
• Design data abstractions and analytical frameworks using SQL, Python.
• Develop data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and alerting at scale.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives and mentor engineers.
