LMI is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to build authoritative data products for Army logistics, owning data pipelines, models, and ontology within Palantir Foundry in Arlington, VA.

This senior IC role demands architectural leadership, production-grade systems, and raising the technical bar for the team, in a defense-focused environment with a Secret clearance.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• Eight+ years of experience building production data systems.
• Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern data-engineering patterns.
• Experience designing data pipelines and products on Palantir Foundry or a comparable platform.
• Experience with data modeling, ontology, data quality, and lineage.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals including testing, source control, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience supporting a Department of War customer.
• Active Secret clearance.

Overview

LMI is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to build authoritative data products supporting Army logistics operations. This engineer will own the development and sustainment of data pipelines, models, and ontology within Palantir Foundry.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for an engineer who can make architectural decisions, build production systems, and raise the technical standard of the team.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and implementation of scalable data pipelines and data products.

• Design for data quality, lineage, security, observability, and long-term maintainability.
• Establish engineering standards for testing, source control, deployment, and operations.
• Partner with software engineers, product designers, and customer stakeholders.
• Review technical designs, mentor engineers, and resolve complex data challenges.

Qualifications

Require Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, data science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Eight or more years of experience building production data systems.
• Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern data-engineering patterns.
• Experience designing data pipelines and products on Palantir Foundry or a comparable enterprise data platform.
• Experience with data modeling, ontology, data quality, and lineage.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including testing, source control, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience supporting a Department of War customer.
• Active Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
• Direct experience with Army Vantage.
• Experience with PySpark or other distributed data-processing technologies.
• Familiarity with Army ERPs and SAP-based systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, DevSecOps, and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with API design and development, backend services, and service orchestration.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, LMI will consider only applicants who currently hold a security clearance.

Target salary range: $130,000-$200,000
