Job summary

Intuit is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Consumer Group Data Engineering Team. You will lead data framework design, ingestion pipelines, and big data tooling using Google Cloud, Spark, Flink, and AWS Big Data services.

This individual contributor role drives technical direction across scrum teams, partnering with product managers, designers, and data scientists. Responsibilities include hands-on development, rapid debugging, technical design, and building scalable data products.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years software engineering experience with strong data engineering background.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring/Spring Boot) and Scala for Spark streaming/applications.
• 5+ years expert experience with SQL, XML, JSON, YAML, Python, Linux.
• Experience building and using AI/ML, Generative AI in growth-focused applications.
• Experience with GenAI platforms like Cursor or Windsurf to accelerate development.
• Proficiency with Docker, Spark, Kubernetes, Jupyter Databricks notebooks, and AWS tools.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, SCRUM, and Extreme Programming methodologies.
• Cloud exposure across AWS/Azure/GCP with services like EC2, S3, EMR, DynamoDB, Athena.

Responsibilities

• 70-85% hands-on development across the software life cycle.
• Rapidly fix bugs, troubleshoot, and resolve complex cross-capability issues.
• Lead initiative sizing, design specifications, and data model implementation.
• Mentor engineers, grow team knowledge, and participate in calibrations.
• Promote inclusivity and develop growth opportunities within the team.
• Understand customer behavior and business levers to drive measurable impact.
• Apply end-to-end system design with pillars: operations, security, reliability, performance, cost.
