Job summary

Afresh is building data products to define the future of retail grocery analytics. As a Staff Data Engineer on the Data Science and Analytics team, you’ll lead the analytics platform, evolve data models and pipelines, and establish governance patterns to enable AI-assisted insights.

You’ll collaborate across data engineers, product managers, data scientists, and operations to deliver reliable analytics that reduce food waste and scale with the business.

Qualifications

• 6+ years as a data engineer, analytics engineer, or similar role.
• Strong communication and leadership for cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to learn new domains and own problems.
• Proactive ownership and initiative.
• Fluent in SQL, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse design.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Proficient with dbt.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Astronomer, Dagster).
• Experience with modern semantic layers (LookML, Cube.dev, dbt MetricFlow).
• Experience designing pipelines over billion-row datasets.
• Experience extending AI models for high-quality analytics.

Responsibilities

• Own the development of our analytics platform and evolve data models.
• Solidify pipelines and establish data governance patterns.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and build models.
• Extend semantic layers and tooling for reliable AI-assisted insights.
• Mentor and up-skill other engineers.
