A leading company located in the Vinings area of Atlanta is seeking a mid-senior Data Engineer to own the data architecture roadmap while mentoring teams and leading technical discussions. Location: Atlanta, GA (Vinings area - hybrid 3-4 days onsite per week)

Perm Position (No sponsorship)

• Own and drive the data architecture roadmap for applications and enterprise data platforms
• Lead development and expansion of enterprise data platforms
• Define vision and requirements for solutions addressing business challenges; evaluate, recommend, and roadmap optimal solutions
• Meet with senior management to understand business drivers and functional requirements
• Guide data design and architecture discussions with engineering teams to ensure secure and scalable solutions
• Communicate data architecture across stakeholders and collaborate with domain architects to formalize standards
• Lead data architecture, design, and code reviews
• Oversee delivery to ensure adherence to best practices, automation, quality, and operational readiness
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to lead data engineers and broader technical teams
• Implement dashboards to enhance data-driven decision making
• Lead AI use cases or proof-of-concept project implementations
• Build and maintain medallion architecture on Azure
• Design and deliver PowerBI dashboards and reports
• Gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Present and communicate effectively with executives and internal stakeholders
• Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering and technology
• Strong knowledge of data management (governance, quality, modeling, integration)
• Expertise in data structures, object-oriented and functional programming
• Experience developing and maintaining MDM systems
• Skilled in Java, JEE, and modern features of functional programming
• Proficiency with Big Data/NoSQL tech (e.g., Cassandra, Big Table)
• Strong SQL experience, particularly in Azure Fabric or equivalent databases
• Experience designing event-driven, pub/sub, and high-volume batch systems
• Experience with enterprise data strategy, integrations, architecture, reporting, and analytics
• Understanding of OLTP and OLAP workloads across RDBMS, NoSQL, Big Data, and cloud-native solutions
• Familiarity with data lake and SaaS integration platforms such as Snowflake or Azure Synapse
• Experience with automated testing (unit and integration)
• Hands-on cloud experience (Azure preferred, GCP or AWS acceptable)
• Knowledge of destructive testing methodologies and tools
• Experience or familiarity with AI/ML and statistical modeling
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and learning new skills outside comfort zone
• Creative, innovative, and open-minded approach to technical problem-solving

Staff Data Engineer Preferred Experience:

• Proven success delivering dashboards and reports with PowerBI
• Demonstrated implementation of AI/ML proof-of-concept projects
• Strong experience with Azure cloud services and medallion architecture
