Job summary

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, seeks a senior electrical/industrial engineer to join our data center team in Manassas, VA. The role is hybrid, with home-office work and select days in a LinkedIn office as required by the team.

You will lead electrical design reviews, validate data center power and cooling systems, evaluate interdependencies, and drive standardization, vendor qualification, and SLAs across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in mission-critical infrastructure design/operation.
• 5+ years in data center design, construction, or major retrofit programs.
• Experience in data center electrical power systems from MV distribution to rack-level.
• Familiarity with data center mechanical and cooling systems, including liquid cooling.
• Experience evaluating infrastructure interdependencies, redundancy, and failure scenarios.
• Experience supporting maintenance, reliability, and operational-readiness programs.
• Experience with colocation providers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to develop clear technical documentation for engineering, operations, and capacity planning teams.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and communicate risks to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design review and validation of data center power systems.
• Review mechanical and cooling system designs and assess interdependencies with electrical power under normal and failure conditions.
• Perform and review electrical studies (load flow, short-circuit, protective coordination, arc-flash).
• Drive updates to the Basis of Design (BOD) across regions and providers.
• Evaluate and qualify new electrical and mechanical equipment and components.
• Lead technical evaluation of new sites, expansions, and data hall fit-outs.
• Lead technical due diligence and support infrastructure negotiations for colocation leases and expansions.
• Partner with data center providers to define lease SLAs and capacity commitments.
• Oversee design and construction of new data centers, expansions, and retrofits; ensure testing and timelines.
• Define commissioning and IST requirements for new spaces and upgrades.
• Contribute to liquid-cooling deployment strategy and monitoring tools.
