Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Staff Engineer II, Cyber - DLP Solution Engineer to lead data loss prevention strategy and drive protection across endpoints, networks, cloud, and collaboration tools. Based in Phoenix, you will shape detection logic, tooling standards, and risk-based controls, partnering with Data Security, Insider Risk, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and IT teams.

Qualifications

• Six+ years in cybersecurity, data protection, or DLP engineering with leadership experience.
• Ability to translate risk and regulatory requirements into technical controls.
• Experience with enterprise DLP tooling and policy implementation.
• Strong communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise DLP strategies across endpoints, network, email, cloud, and SaaS.
• Set technical direction for DLP tooling, detection philosophy, and implementation standards.
• Design and document DLP policies, detection logic, and control frameworks.
• Act as technical authority on DLP tools (Broadcom/Symantec, Microsoft Purview, Varonis).
• Guide engineering teams to implement DLP controls with aligned design intent.
• Lead design for enterprise-scale DLP detections and workflows.
• Drive tooling strategy, vendor assessment, integration, and scalability.
• Improve detection quality, false positives, and risk reduction via tuning.
• Partner to enhance data classification, labeling, and policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with Insider Risk, Security Monitoring, Privacy, Legal, HR, and IT.
• Support investigations and contributing to regulatory exams.
• Mentor engineers and analysts in DLP domains.
