Job summary

Reed College's Health & Counseling Center seeks a Staff Counselor to deliver initial assessments, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and outreach for students. The role collaborates with campus partners and reports to the Director of Health and Counseling Center. It is a full-time, benefits-eligible, 10-month position from August through May.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekends and after-hours for on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselor Education, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field.
• Current Oregon license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
• One year of experience providing services to clients, including crisis intervention and support services to high-risk clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of clinical services for students, including triage, initial assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, diagnosis, and therapeutic support.
• Monitor student progress and help students develop effective coping, wellness, and resilience strategies to support mental health and academic success.
• Provide after hours on-call services as part of the counselor on-call rotation.
• Provide mental health prevention and post intervention outreach programming and education to the college community.
• Coordinate referrals between Counseling Services and college or community service providers.
• Collaborate with other professionals on an interdisciplinary team in the Health & Counseling Center.
• Maintain current, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Counseling Services policies.
• Review student records to assess progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services provided.
• Attend and participate in department meetings, division meetings, and staff development programs as assigned.
• Provide culturally responsive and identity affirming individual and group counseling.

Job description

The Staff Counselor is a member of the Health & Counseling Center (HCC) team who focuses on providing services to support the success and mental well-being of students. Clinical services will include conducting initial assessments, providing individual and group therapy workshops, consultation, outreach, programming, and collaboration with campus partners. This position reports to the Director of Health and Counseling Center.

This is a full-time benefits-eligible 10-month position, working August through May. Benefit eligibility will continue during the summer recess. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m with occasional weekends and after hours for on-call rotation.

The starting salary range for this position is $77,000–$80,000 annually for a 12-month assignment. This position is a 10-month assignment, working August through May; therefore, the annual salary will be prorated to approximately $65,000–$67,000 to reflect the non-working months. Pay offers are dependent on experience and are determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment. This is an exempt position in grade 7.
