FLSA: .83 FTE school based, exempt (Expectation to work 40 hrs/wk during school season)

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Supervisor

PAY GRADE: WAGES LISTED BELOW REFLECT THE PRO-RATED SALARY FOR A .83 FTE EMPLOYEE WORKING 40 hours per week with Summers off.

MHS IV - B12 ($61,337 - $92,628 annually, DOE) Exempt - Requires Doctorate or Licensure

MHS III - B11 ($56,025 - $83,996 annually, DOE) Exempt - Masters Required

MHS II w/ Variance - B09 ($47,061 - $68,641 annually, DOE) Non-Exempt (Hourly) - Must possess bachelors degree and be enrolled or willing to enroll in a Masters program within 4 months of hire.

Potential for 10% bilingual increase - Must pass a language test

DESCRIPTION

Provides culturally competent and appropriate behavioral health treatment to students at school districts covered by CCS. The position provides treatment in accordance with the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) and the mission and values of CCS. The position works closely with the school and community partners; and is professional in all aspects of service delivery. Additionally, this position assists administration in meeting the behavioral health needs of the community they are based out of. As School Based Counselor you will primarily provide counseling services, including group, individual, prevention, education, and outreach to students within the school district, any alternative school, for higher risk, higher behavior students.

This position is supervised by the Clinical Supervisor of School Based Counselors.

This position does not supervise other employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide clinical services to children and families. This includes screening, assessment, individual and group therapy, consultation, prevention, education, outreach and other allowed clinical services.
• Participate in joint case planning and coordination with agency employees and relevant contractors. Act as liaison between clients and other agencies. Advocate for clients when appropriate.
• Participate in supervision sessions.
• Support students in developing skills such as organization, time management, and study habits.
• Provide information to staff related to the comprehensive school counseling program.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators on educational and career planning; consult with teachers, administrators and community resources.
• Gather information, monitor and report effectiveness of the program at specific locations.
• Coordinate with CCS clinicians and school team members on goals related to student academic success.
• Be a first responder to school crisis and lead coping strategies.
• May facilitate prevention groups (drug, alcohol, nicotine) for youth.
• Share and receive information with teachers and staff to support treatment plan goals.
• Work with staff and community representatives to initiate or revise programs as needed.
• Collaborate with other agencies (schools, group homes, police, courts, clinics, hospitals) on behavioral health areas.
• Provide behavioral health and addiction education to various groups.
• Assist other clinicians in facilitating groups as requested.
• Provide after-hours emergency services on a 24-hour rotating basis.
• Complete paperwork professionally and timely as prescribed; maintain client records.
• Attend trainings and meetings and apply learnings to benefit the agency and clients.
• Utilize agency software to maintain current client records and reports.
• Transport clients as required.
• May administer forms for urinalysis testing (UA) and report results as needed.
• Report all abuse to appropriate authorities and develop safety plans as required.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

MHS IV - Doctorate degree in social work, psychology or related field, or master’s degree with LPC/LCSW/LMFT and licensure

MHS III - Master’s degree in social work, psychology or related field

MHS II w/ Variance - Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a Master’s program within 4 months of hire

Certifications

If the employee holds a PhD, no certification is required. If the employee has a master’s degree, certification as LMFT, LPC or LCSW and good standing is required.

Must have or be able to obtain certification from the Department of Human Services as a Certified Mental Health Investigator.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS

Must pass all criminal history checks as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and OAR 410-007-0200 through 410-007-0380. Monthly checks against OIG and GSA lists and other agencies apply. Exclusion or sanctions will result in termination.

PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE

Must hold a valid driver's license and personal auto insurance for CCS business with minimum $300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage coverage; CCS insurance is secondary. CCS may deny vehicle use at its discretion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical office computer/phone tasks; seated work; occasional lifting up to 30 pounds; vision requirements; possible on-call sleep disturbances.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

School and community settings; moderate to loud noise at times; possible long-distance travel and occasional overnight stays for meetings/trainings; must sometimes work in client homes and communities.
