The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) seeks an Agency Attorney within the Office of Labor Policy & Standards to lead investigations, draft pleadings, and enforce worker protection laws. The role focuses on protecting low-wage workers, through complex litigation and enforcement actions across industries.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
• One year of US legal experience after bar admission, or six months as Agency Attorney Intern.
• Strong litigation, research, and writing capabilities.
• Experience addressing worker rights and labor/employment issues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex investigations and develop evidence for litigation.
• Review reports and evaluate evidence strength for enforcement actions.
• Litigate actions to obtain monetary relief for workers and draft pleadings.
• Edit Consent Orders and negotiate settlement terms with employers.
• Conduct legal research to support enforcement and policy work.
• Prepare legal briefs and memos; draft public-facing materials.
