The Staff Counsel, eDiscovery Services, provides review services for dispute and corporate due diligence matters under the guidance of NRF lawyers. The role includes serving as a Team Lead to coordinate communication between lawyers and review teams, performing quality control, and handling discovery tasks such as document summaries, issue analysis, chronologies, and privilege logs.

This is a full-time remote position, with flexibility to attend meetings or training at any of our US offices. The Staff Counsel reports to the Senior Manager, Document Review Services in Houston.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Review, analyze, and code documents for responsiveness, relevancy, confidentiality, issues, and privilege.
  2. Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
  3. Conduct quality control reviews of document coding and redactions.
  4. Coordinate, monitor, and quality check work by first-level reviewers.
  5. Identify, escalate, and track questions and issues to lawyers and support staff.
  6. Prepare and edit privilege logs for production.
  7. Review and analyze contracts and agreements based on set criteria.

Qualifications and experience

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas or Missouri.
  • Preferably, at least 3 years of document review experience.
  • Strong knowledge of document review platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and dedication to quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Understanding of attorney-client and attorney work product privileges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to support after-hours, overtime, and weekend work as needed.
