Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Cost Accountant to lead cost and manufacturing accounting for aerospace/defense operations. You will own inventory valuation, standard costing, and partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and FP&A to improve financial performance.

The role operates with minimal supervision in a startup-like environment, offering stock options and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life, disability, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• CPA or CMA required.
• Advanced expertise in U.S. GAAP inventory accounting, including ASC 330.
• Experience with standard costing, actual costing, and manufacturing overhead allocation.
• Strong knowledge of BOM management, routing structures, and standard cost revisions.
• Working knowledge of SOX controls and ERP manufacturing modules.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Acumatica, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close for all cost accounting activities, including inventory journal entries.
• Own and maintain the standard costing system and product costing.
• Lead annual and interim cost updates, including labor and overhead rates.
• Collaborate with Engineering/Operations to validate standards and BOM changes.
• Oversee inventory, variances, scrap, and cycle counts; ensure timely production order close.
• Prepare monthly inventory and cost accounting schedules and reconciliations.
• Support SEC reporting related to inventory and cost of sales; assist audits.
