Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff Engineer to drive cloud-based architectural vision and practical solutions across the Settlement platform. You will lead as a trusted technical advisor, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product managers and leaders to advance scalable, secure systems.

This role emphasizes hands-on contribution, cross-divisional impact, and the modernization of monolithic systems into microservices and event-driven platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; related quantitative field accepted.
• At least 7 years in software engineering, architecture, cloud, and data.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and data architecture.
• Preferred: 10+ years across listed domains and languages.
• Experience with public cloud platforms and networking.
• Capable of researching and applying agentic AI coding tools.

• Serve as a force-multiplier for the team, balancing deep, hands-on technical contribution and innovation with mentoring and elevating the skills of peers and junior engineers.
• Lead cross-divisional projects and impacts that promote technological best practices and enhancements.
• Act as a thought leader in quality, security, reliability and DevOps practices and influence the strategic direction within teams and across the network
