Job summary

Pennoni is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Leesburg, VA office. You will lead land development projects from schematic design through construction, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high-quality design and reports. Target pay is $90,000–$110,000 with growth opportunities.

Ideal candidates will have AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD proficiency, and strong communication skills to liaise with clients and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably land development.
• E.I.T. certification is required.
• Experience with land development and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee land development plan development, drawings, specs, and reports.
• Coordinate permits with regulatory agencies for large-scale projects.
• Perform zoning interpretation and feasibility studies for site access.
• Prepare site grading plans and buffers connecting to existing infrastructure.
• Contribute to stormwater management design and H&H modeling.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Engage with regulatory agencies and clients; coordinate with Pennoni staff.
• Mentor junior staff and provide design quality control.
• Prepare proposals and track budgets for profitability.
• Support networking and business development activities.
• Assist in value engineering of plans.
• Additional duties as needed.
