Job summary

American Engineering is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Chesapeake, VA team. You will work directly with Professional Engineers and support design calculations, plan production, and project documentation from day one.

Graduates will gain hands-on field experience, mentorship, and opportunities to develop toward a PE license while contributing to projects for municipalities, developers, and public agencies in the Southeast region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (expected Spring 2027).
• EIT certification completed or ability to obtain shortly after graduation preferred.
• On-site work in the Chesapeake, VA region.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with project managers and licensed engineers.
• Assist with design calculations, plan production, and project documentation.
• Participate in field visits and project coordination activities.
• Collaborate across departments to gain broader project exposure.
• Develop technical skills through mentorship and training programs.
• Contribute to projects serving municipalities, developers, and public agencies.
