Job summary

Burkhardt Engineering Company seeks an entry level Staff Engineer to join the civil and site development team in Kentucky. You will research, plan, design, and prepare detailed construction drawings under supervision, with a path toward licensure.

The role emphasizes learning jurisdictional codes, coordinating with utility providers, and progressing toward professional licensure while contributing to project deliverables and client-ready reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• EIT Certification / FE Exam.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proactive with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design site layouts and prepare conceptual and schematic plans based on code requirements and engineering principles.
• Research zoning codes, design criteria, infrastructure, jurisdictional requirements and permit processes.
• Prepare site investigation and due diligence reports.
• Create construction drawings and reports under guidance from senior team members.
• Learn and apply company design standards and best practices to all deliverables.
• Coordinate with utility providers for storm/ sanitary sewer, water, gas, electric, and telecom services.
• Attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare permit submittal packages.
• Perform site visits to collect data for design purposes.
