Job summary

ELLKAY, LLC seeks an experienced Staff CI/CD Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable software delivery platforms across AWS environments. You will lead implementation of automated pipelines, GitOps, and IaC, driving reliability, security, and efficiency for multiple engineering teams.

The role requires deep platform engineering expertise, strong Python development skills, and the ability to resolve complex production issues spanning applications, containers, and cloud services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
  • 5+ years designing and operating enterprise CI/CD platforms.
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong Python programming and software development skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building automation frameworks and developer tooling.
  • Deep understanding of Linux operating systems and system internals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities in complex distributed environments.
  • Experience supporting production systems with high availability requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Staff CI/CD Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable software delivery platforms that enable rapid, secure, and reliable deployment of applications across AWS environments. This role requires deep expertise in CI/CD architecture, cloud‑native technologies, software engineering practices, system internals, and production operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong platform engineering skills with software development expertise and possesses the ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues spanning application, infrastructure, networking, operating systems, and cloud services. The engineer will serve as a technical leader, influencing enterprise‑wide DevOps and platform engineering strategies while driving developer productivity and operational excellence.

  • Design, implement, and evolve enterprise‑scale CI/CD platforms supporting multiple engineering teams.
  • Develop standardized build, test, security scanning, release, and deployment pipelines.

  • Design automated deployment solutions leveraging services such as: AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Systems Manager, AWS Lambda, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, AWS IAM, Amazon S3, Amazon EventBridge
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure utilization, cost efficiency, and operational resilience.
  • Establish secure deployment patterns and environment isolation strategies.
Platform Automation & Software Development
  • Develop automation frameworks and tooling using Python.
  • Build internal developer platforms and self‑service deployment capabilities.
  • Create integrations with source control systems, artifact repositories, ticketing systems, security tools, and observability platforms.
  • Automate operational workflows, compliance checks, environment provisioning, and release processes.
  • Develop APIs, CLI tools, and automation services supporting engineering teams.
Production Operations & Troubleshooting
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical production incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis across Applications, Containers, Kubernetes clusters, Operating systems, Databases, Build and deployment systems
  • Resolve deployment failures and infrastructure‑related production issues.
  • Apply deep understanding of operating system internals and distributed systems concepts.
  • Analyze performance bottlenecks involving CPU utilization, Memory management,
  • Storage I/O, Process scheduling, Threading, Networking and Container runtimes
  • Debug complex issues using system‑level diagnostics and observability tools.
  • Support performance tuning and optimization initiatives.
Security & Compliance
  • Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement automated security scanning and policy enforcement.
  • Enforce least‑privilege access models across cloud and deployment systems.
  • Partner with security teams to establish secure software supply chain practices.
  • Drive compliance automation and audit readiness.
