Job summary

OP Environmental is seeking a Staff Level Biologist with approximately 4 years of professional experience to join our Southern California team. The role blends independent field work with technical reporting and desktop project coordination, with real room to grow into project management.

Responsibilities include conducting field surveys, preparing nesting bird reports, and assisting with GIS mapping and QA/QC of deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field and ~4 years of biological consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of CEQA, MBTA, and California Fish and Game Code is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills with clear, concise reporting.
  • Experience with habitat assessment, vegetation mapping, and species documentation.
  • Willingness to work early-morning field starts and variable schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and monitor biological field surveys including pre-construction surveys.
  • Prepare nesting bird surveys and monitoring documentation per MBTA and CEQA.
  • Draft technical reports for senior review and QA/QC reports and deliverables.
  • Collect field data with GPS; maintain accurate field notes and photos.
  • Assist desktop project coordination across multiple projects and clients.
  • Support GIS mapping and exhibit preparation for reports.
