Job summary

Helix is a leader in genomics-enabled healthcare, hiring a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist to advance our NGS pipelines and ensure high-quality clinical results. You will lead new capabilities, collaborate with engineering, lab, quality, and clinical teams, and help triage data underpinning variant calls.

You will also help develop analytics, validations, and tools to sustain reliable operations in a regulated setting and drive impact across patient care.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 3+ years.
• Hands-on experience with analyzing DNA sequencing data.
• Coding and/or data analysis experience in Python.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges to drive tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop new bioinformatics capabilities to expand use cases and drive volume.

At Helix, our bioinformatics team creates cutting-edge NGS pipelines, handling high volumes of patient samples in a tightly regulated space. As a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, you will lead efforts to ensure pipeline accuracy and reliability, guaranteeing high-quality and consistent results for our patients.

As a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, you will:

• Develop new bioinformatics capabilities to expand use cases and drive volume
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, lab, quality, and clinical teams to launch new science products
• Support operations by evaluating and triaging bioinformatics data underlying clinical variant calls

About you:

• Masters with 5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with analyzing DNA sequencing data
• Coding and/or data analysis experience in Python
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges to drive tasks to completion

Pluses:

• Subject matter knowledge in clinical genomics
• Experience across multiple -omics technologies (e.g. WES, WGS, RNA-seq, proteomics)
• Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. CLIA/CAP, FDA)

Expected Pay For This Role:

There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer:1)Base Salary2)Annual Bonus3)Equity

• Expected Helix Base: $146,000 - $196,000 per annum
• Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 15% of your annual salary
• Equity: We offer generous equity at Helix. If you receive a Helix offer your recruiter will book dedicated time with you to educate you on our equity model.

What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
