Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Staff Backend Developer for its Threat Intelligence team. This remote UK role focuses on designing and maintaining high-performance backend systems and collaborating with malware reverse engineering to enhance threat detection capabilities.

You will build scalable data pipelines, lead development standards, and optimize performance across distributed systems. The role emphasizes pragmatic, value-driven delivery and integrity in all technical decisions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in Python, PostgreSQL, Redis and distributed task queues
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
• Experience with relational database design, SQL optimization and reporting
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and AI-driven solutions

Responsibilities

• Build scalable data pipelines for ingesting and indexing large data volumes
• Lead on improving development practices across the team
• Address performance bottlenecks ensuring efficiency and reliability
• Develop robust backend APIs and services, testing and measuring workflows
