Constructor.io, an AI-first e-commerce search and discovery platform, is seeking a staff-level engineer to own systems end-to-end and drive performance and reliability at scale.

You will lead the design of high-traffic Python services, shape public APIs, and mentor engineers while balancing latency, cost, and feature growth. This role offers a fully remote setup in the United States with a strong impact on our core product.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating high-traffic, low-latency backend services.
• Extensive knowledge of Python (primary language).
• Experience with observability and performance work in live systems.
• Experience designing and evolving public APIs external customers depend on.
• Experience designing & implementing scalable service-oriented architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of one or more services – architecture, performance, reliability.
• Lead design of new systems and public APIs, and evolution of existing ones as traffic grows.
• Raise the engineering bar through design and code reviews; mentor engineers.
• Partner with product and other teams to shape what we build and communicate constraints.
• Take part in on-call and lead incident response for owned systems.
