Job summary

Fivetran in Oakland/Toronto is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend for the Reverse ETL team. Former Census, acquired in 2025, is now integrated into the Fivetran dashboard to enhance data activation for customers.

You’ll work on authentication, billing, data models, UI, and more, mentoring engineers and driving end-to-end features in a distributed, agile environment, with a hybrid in-person/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Experience with interpreted languages (e.g., Python, Ruby on Rails).
• Experience with at least one compiled language (e.g., C++, Java, Go).
• Familiarity with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all parts of the tech stack (Ruby on Rails, Typescript, Vue, AWS).
• Prototype to test ideas before committing to build.
• Design and develop features for data activation with product teams and customers.
• Mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and provide technical leadership.
• Lead major projects from research spikes to rollout.
