Job summary

Fivetran is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Backend for the Reverse ETL product engineering team in Oakland. You will integrate data activation capabilities across authentication, billing, data model, and UI, while mentoring engineers and leading cross-team projects.

You’ll work with Ruby on Rails, Typescript, Vue, and AWS, prototyping ideas, and shaping features with product teams and customers. A strong emphasis on end-to-end ownership and collaboration across North America is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in system integration, including API consumption and development.
• Experience being on-call.
• Expertise in at least one interpreted language such as Python or Ruby on Rails.
• Hands-on experience with at least one compiled language such as C++, Java, Go.
• Strong relational database knowledge; Snowflake experience is a bonus.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Mentor early-career engineers and perform thoughtful code reviews.
• Lead major projects from research spikes to design documents and rollout.
• Collaborate with product, leadership, and customers to design features and improve developer experiences.
• Work across teams, time zones, and departments to deliver end-to-end solutions.
