Job summary

RemoFirst is seeking a Staff Back-End Engineer to own and evolve our Python and Java backend in a fully remote, globally distributed environment. You’ll partner with product, design, and operations to build reliable, scalable services and drive architectural decisions.

You will mentor engineers, champion TDD and CI/CD, and help transition parts of our monolith to modern microservices while maintaining strong customer focus and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend development experience.
• Strong Python experience (Django/FastAPI/Flask).
• Strong Java experience, preferably Spring Boot.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and relational databases.
• Familiarity with unit/integration testing and TDD.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java/Python stack.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations to deliver reliable products.
• Architect pragmatic, scalable solutions and migrate from monoliths to microservices.
• Lead engineering practices: TDD, CI/CD, SRE culture, API-first design.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews.
