Job summary

Swiftly is seeking a Staff Engineer to ship high-quality backend code quickly, focusing on building Swiftly’s platforms and integrating new retailer partners. You’ll bring a strong backend background and experience with enterprise integration projects.

As part of a cross-functional team, you will design and implement backend services, automate workflows, manage deployments, and participate in code reviews. This role requires leadership, proactive communication, and on-call availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or comparable industry experience.
• 10+ years of backend software experience.
• Strong Ruby on Rails; Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, AWS IaC.
• Experience with React or React-Native.
• Test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience with Scrum, Agile, Kanban, or similar methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement backend services to support APIs used by mobile and web clients.
• Automate manual processes to streamline internal and external experiences and workflows.
• Manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements.
• Configure, build, test, and deploy integration software solutions.
• Collaborate with solutions engineers and technical program managers to write technical design proposals and participate in and/or oversee code reviews.
• Write scalable tests, release plans, and end-user documentation to support our fast-growing organization.
• Resolve integration issues (diagnose, track, and manage).
• Deliver technical improvements and bug fixes.
• Work with internal support and business users to understand requirements and ideate new solutions.
• Provide recommendations for standard integration design methodologies.
