Job summary

FloSports is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead backend architecture and modernization across our platform. You will own system design, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and leadership to deliver scalable services.

Expertise in authentication, distributed identity, and modern frameworks is essential, along with strong AWS cloud skills. You will build APIs and event-driven workflows using TypeScript, NestJS, and Node.js, and ensure robust testing with Jest, Vitest, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience designing and scaling distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Deep understanding of authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, RBAC/ABAC).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js with advanced design patterns.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Aurora, Firestore).
• Proven success building RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
• Solid understanding of AWS and cloud-native architecture.
• Strong testing discipline, CI/CD, and automation workflows.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring ability.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive modernization of identity, access, and authorization across systems.
• Lead architecture and development of scalable backend services.
• Design APIs and event-driven workflows for inter-service communication.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and code reviews for the team.
• Leverage AI-driven tools to improve quality and velocity.
• Build backend services using TypeScript, NestJS, Node.js with Jest/Vitest tests.
• Apply AWS expertise (Aurora, EventBridge, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3) for reliable systems.
• Partner with product to deliver technical solutions aligned with business goals.
• Champion security, testing, CI/CD, observability, and ownership.
