Solomon Page is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer in New York, NY, to lead the core calculation infrastructure powering the platform. The role focuses on high-performance distributed systems, massive data processing, and cloud-native evolution. Strong Java expertise is preferred, with experience in C++ or Python a plus.

The position offers a hybrid work model (2–3 days in NYC office) with bonus and equity opportunities. Green Card or US citizenship required; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems in production.
• Strong Java development and distributed systems experience.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale the distributed calculation engines for analytics.
• Build high-performance backend services to process large datasets in real time.
• Architect and implement distributed microservices for performance and resiliency.
• Solve memory management, concurrency, caching, and data distribution challenges.
• Evolve platform toward a cloud-native architecture.
• Optimize throughput, latency, and resource utilization.
• Collaborate with platform, infra, data, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions for large-scale initiatives.
• Improve tooling, observability, CI/CD, and developer productivity.
• Evaluate technologies to support platform growth and scale.
