Polymarket is seeking Staff Backend Engineers to own and shape fast, correct backend systems as the company grows into a global source of truth. This individual contributor role offers high autonomy and ownership, with opportunities to influence architecture across teams and focus on exchange platforms, fraud protection, or new market products.

You will work with senior engineers to design, build, and operate core services, APIs, and infrastructure in Go, Python, or Java, ensuring reliability

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or Java (Go preferred).
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, data structures, and algorithms.
• Track record of designing, shipping, and operating high-scale distributed systems.

Aufgaben

• Own the design, build, and operation of critical backend systems end to end, from architecture to production.
• Set technical direction for your area and influence architecture across teams, with scale and reliability in mind.
• Take on hardest technical problems and turn them into actionable plans that ship.
• Build services and APIs mainly in Go that are fast and reliable for other teams to use.
• Own production reliability: profile, tune, incident response, and fixes to prevent repeats.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and help set engineering standards as the team grows.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Data, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into working systems.
