Job summary

Aave Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to help build the infrastructure behind DeFi protocols and vault products. You will own backend systems that bridge onchain state with offchain services, including vault management, data ingestion, and APIs.

You will collaborate with Quant Engineers and Smart Contract teams to ensure correctness, performance, and security while shaping production systems used by a global, high-autonomy team.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong experience with Rust and systems programming.
• Experience with high-performance, data-intensive, or event-driven backends.
• Solid PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Experience in blockchain, DeFi, or capital markets.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend infrastructure for DeFi protocols and vault products.
• Develop vault management, curation, and allocation systems.
• Build high-throughput blockchain indexers and data pipelines.
• Create performant, stable, and well-documented APIs for internal and external use.
• Collaborate with Quant Engineers to translate models into production services.
• Work with smart contract engineers on onchain state interactions.
• Take ownership of projects and maintain high engineering standards.
