Job summary

ResortPass, Inc. is hiring a Staff Engineer to lead the evolution of the booking platform and external API.

You will work on a production Rails/OpenSearch and Postgres system, shaping decisions that enable fast launches of hotel and spa partners, with a hands-on approach mentoring engineers. You will report to the Head of Engineering and collaborate with Product, Partnerships, and hotel operations to extend the platform while ensuring reliability, scalability, and clear ownership across teams.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant backend/architectural experience.
• Led technical work across engineers or teams from problem to launch.
• Designed transactional systems and APIs used by other teams.
• Strong understanding of relational modeling, concurrency and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Evolve models for products, pricing, availability, holds, and reservations.
• Build and launch a versioned external API for pricing and bookings with access controls.
• Ensure reliability via retries, timeouts, idempotency, and proper failure handling.
• Define patterns for supply, property management, and POS integrations.
• Lead incremental migrations, set latency targets, and enable production observability.
• Mentor engineers and drive architectural decisions with cross-team collaboration.
