Unity is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for Offer Delivery, the backend engine that determines which offers players see in real time. You will set the technical vision, design critical architectures, and drive delivery across multiple teams in a high-scale environment.

You will architect Go and Java services, collaborate with ML ranking models, and ensure reliability and observability at scale, while mentoring engineers and shaping the roadmap for the serving path.

Qualifications

• Own a significant backend system and drive architectural decisions.
• Design and ship large-scale, highly available distributed services.
• Proficient in Go or Java; knowledge of gRPC.
• Experience with observability and data streaming technologies.
• Ability to influence across teams and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Design: Set the technical direction for Offer Delivery, owning the architecture of its services.
• Build & Ship: Build, test, and ship the Go and Java services that decide which offer each player sees.
• Evolve the Recommender: Collaborate with ML to move ranking improvements to production.
• Lead Across Teams: Align auction, ML, platform, and product teams and drive cross-team delivery.
• Operate at Scale: Ensure high availability, reliability, and on-call rotations.
• Raise the Bar: Mentor engineers and set engineering standards.
