Job summary

Trading 212, a leading Europe-based mobile broker, is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to shape technical direction across teams and tackle high-consequence backend problems. The role emphasizes technical judgement, hands-on execution, and mentorship to raise engineering standards.

You will drive architectural decisions, improve reliability and performance, and work closely with product leaders to invest in long-term technical initiatives.

Staff Backend Engineers shape technical direction across teams while remaining close to the systems and code. You will take on problems whose consequences extend beyond one service or delivery cycle.

This is not a people-management role. Its leverage comes from technical judgement, credible execution and the ability to help other engineers make better decisions.
