Job description

I’m working with a New York fintech that is rebuilding how investment banks run investor access: roadshows, conferences, event logistics, investor targeting and scheduling. Today most of this still runs on spreadsheets and manual work. Their platform connects banks, investors and issuers directly, and AI agents are taking over more and more of the work people used to do by hand.

The model works. More than a dozen banks use the platform, including three of the top 15 in North America. The company has raised $11M and has reached seven-figure revenue, and sales are still led by the founders. The team is small, and more than half of it is engineering.

The Role

Most of the engineering team is early in their careers. This hire brings experience from systems that have already scaled. It’s a hands‑on individual contributor role: you’ll build the hardest, most critical systems and mentor the engineers around you.

Typical work includes:

• Owning how the core backend systems scale, including service architecture and performance
• Designing and running PostgreSQL at scale, which is the heart of the platform
• Architecting, deploying and running production systems on AWS
• Building high-volume data integrations with institutional clients
• Laying the technical foundation for the platform’s AI agents
• Making architectural decisions that shape the platform’s future

Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, with AI agent workflows.

What they’re looking for

• 6 or more years of hands‑on backend engineering
• A track record of building and scaling backend systems end to end, across databases, infrastructure and integrations
• Deep experience with relational databases at scale, especially PostgreSQL
• Production AWS experience: architecting, deploying and running systems
• Time at a high‑growth tech company while it scaled, ideally across more than one company and product
• Java and Spring Boot are a plus but not required
• A hands‑on builder. Former managers who want to get back to hands‑on work are welcome.
• Your track record matters more than where you studied

The Opportunity

• Join a small team and work directly with the founders, with no middle management
• Own projects end to end and shape the platform’s architecture
• $225,000 to $290,000 base plus equity
• Fully on‑site in Flatiron, New York City, at a fast start‑up pace that sometimes means responding outside normal hours
• Open to US citizens and Green Card holders only. They can’t offer visa sponsorship or transfers.
