Job description

We serve consulting and private equity professionals at global strategy firms, boutique M&A advisors, and independent investment teams. These users are highly capable but chronically short on time. Their days are filled with administrative overhead: managing large volumes of diligence calls, cleaning up transcripts, extracting quotes, tracking entities across projects, and manually translating insights into decks; all under intense time pressure.

We remove this friction by automating call ingestion, transcript normalization, quote extraction, and insight structuring, allowing users to focus on high-impact thinking: deal sourcing, analysis, and recommendations that drive outcomes.

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and scaling the core systems behind our AI-powered research platform. This is a deeply technical, systems-oriented position, well suited for engineers who enjoy reasoning about data pipelines, orchestration layers, and performance across distributed architectures.

As an early member of the engineering team, you’ll have significant ownership and influence. You’ll move fast, help define technical foundations, and work on problems that sit at the intersection of AI infrastructure and backend systems.

You will:

• Build and ship production features at high velocity
• Design and scale backend services that handle high-volume LLM traffic, vector search, and multi-agent workflows
• Integrate and coordinate AI infrastructure spanning model providers, databases, and internal services
• Take ownership of system reliability and observability, including evolution of our Postgres / ClickHouse data layer and background job orchestration
• Rapidly prototype backend components such as retrieval pipelines, caching strategies, async workers, and task queues to accelerate product development
• Help define engineering standards, practices, and culture as the team grows

We’re looking for a product-oriented backend engineer who:

• Is based in NYC and excited to work in person five days per week
• Enjoys working at the intersection of systems design and AI infrastructure
• Has driven complex projects from concept through production
• Wants a seat at the table for product and technical decision-making
• Is comfortable working across our stack, including Next.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL
• Has a strong bias toward speed, iteration, and shipping

• Retrieval systems, embeddings, or prompt orchestration workflows
• Building internal tooling or infrastructure at early-stage startups
