About the Role

One of our clients is hiring a Head of Infrastructure to lead and scale their platform engineering efforts. This is a high-impact role where you’ll own the backend infrastructure, make key architectural decisions, and eventually build and mentor a team. The platform supports complex ML Ops use cases across varied deployment environments, with a strong focus on security, privacy, and hardware constraints.

Key Responsibilities

As the infrastructure lead, you would:

• Architect and evolve the platform to support current and future deployment scenarios
• Use Terraform to manage infrastructure
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and worker nodes
• Develop the inference and model training backend
• Design data pipelines and evaluation metric systems
• Optimize reliability and performance for enterprise-scale use cases
• Recruit, grow, and mentor the infrastructure team over time

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a senior or staff-level infrastructure engineer, with hands-on experience building distributed systems at scale
• Strong systems design and coding skills
• Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action
• Based in or willing to relocate to New York City

• Experience with foundation models, transformers, or generative AI research
