Job summary

Intuit Inc. in Mountain View seeks a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to design and build enterprise-scale SaaS applications using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.

You will work on online web services and REST architectures with a strong focus on performance and reliability. You will lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and contribute to system design, testing, and deployment while collaborating with product teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and developing online SaaS backend systems.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• BS or MS in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in Java/J2EE, SQL, AWS, and backend tech.
• 5+ years experience with REST/SOAP web services.
• Proficient in SDLC and TDD.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop online web applications, prototypes, or POCs.
• Lead gathering of functional requirements, develop technical specs, and test plans.
• Mentor engineers and lead a small team solving challenging programming and design problems.
• Roughly 40-60% hands‑on coding; focus on system design, operations, and mentoring.
• Generate technical docs and presentations to communicate options and educate teams.
• Resolve defects across QA, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
• Work cross-functionally with product management, QA/QE, and business units.
• Demonstrate passion for well-architected, scalable apps.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM/XP.
